Najeema Davis Washington
Najeema Davis Washington is an international speaker, celebrated philanthropist, and social entrepreneur. A native of Charleston, South Carolina, Washington is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Spelman College and holds a graduate degree from the University of North Carolina. She is a long-time resident of Prince George’s County, where she was initiated as a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., one of the largest chapters of the public service organization in the country.
Currently, Washington serves as the chapter journalist. In her role, she regularly provides critical support to more than twenty committees that address challenges related to health and social welfare, developing an informed voting citizen electorate, childhood obesity, literacy, and the needs of at-risk youth. This public service has impacted hundreds of students within Prince George’s County schools through enrichment program offerings and close to $1 million dollars in scholarship awards to Prince George’s County students.
In her professional experiences, Washington has held many roles that have contributed to her ability to bring innovative, clear leadership to groups and initiatives with which she becomes involved. In Prince George’s County her commitment to public service has been further demonstrated by her volunteer work as an advocate for safer roads for pedestrians and cyclists, and as a champion for the education of vulnerable students at a local elementary school.
