Juwan Blocker


Juwan Blocker is an eleventh grade student at Parkdale High School in Prince George’s County. Blocker was an intern for Congresswoman Donna Edwards, is a member of Prince George’s County Young Democrats, former candidate for student member of the Prince George’s County School Board, student leader, community organizer, advocate, and activist fighting to ensure that the student voice is heard.

At Parkdale High School, he serves as the school’s youth political analyst, lobbyist for the Prince George’s Regional Association of Student government, and serves as the legislative chair on the Maryland Youth Advisory Council. He is politically aware and active in local, state, and federal politics. He has advocated in Annapolis against proposed Maryland education budget cuts, organized and led a peaceful in-school demonstration in honor of Michael Brown and Eric Garner, presented at the Hyattsville City Council to lower the voting age in municipal elections to sixteen years old (voting age was lowered), was a panelist for online community forum with Maryland state delegate Alonzo Washington, and has been involved in a host of other events.

He is passionate about closing the achievement gap in education, student awareness, student advocacy, and youth civic engagement. He is a people person, loves helping his peers whenever he can, loves helping his community, and wants to be a public servant when he gets older.
