Teisha Marie McKie
Teisha Marie McKie, a longtime Prince George’s County resident, uses her purpose of healing through music to fuel her commitment to the arts. For nearly a decade, McKie has served as a music educator for Prince George’s County public schools system and the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission.
In 2008, McKie founded her independent entertainment company, Teisha Marie Music, LLC. In 2013, following two critically acclaimed releases, McKie released her sophomore album, The Girl from Nowhere. Music site Soulbounce calls McKie’s sound “jazzy, soulful, and seductive,” while the classic music brand SoulTrain has called her music “refreshingly honest,” a “perfect alternative to abrasive mainstream themes.”
McKie, who holds a bachelor of arts degree from Spelman College, is currently pursuing her master’s degree in marketing from University of Maryland University College. As a performing member of the Washington Performing Arts Society, the National Association of Negro Musicians, and the Liberated Muse Arts Group, McKie continues to serve diverse audiences through the arts. McKie is grateful to be recognized on the Forty UNDER 40 Prince George’s County List 2015.
