Kira Calm Lewis
Kira Calm Lewis, project management professional (PMP) is the media relations manager for the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) Department of Parks and Recreation for Prince George’s County. She is the spokesperson for the organization and also responsible for social media. She has mentored middle-school girls for more than seven years, encouraging self-esteem and stressing the importance of higher education. In addition, she currently mentors college students interested in professional public relations.
Calm Lewis is a member of Leadership Prince George’s and is currently serving on the board. She served as a board member for the Water Babies Development Center, Inc., for more than six years, as vice president, treasurer, and president. Calm Lewis has served as a member of one or more parent-teacher associations (PTA) for the past six years and has served as a founding member, a bylaws chair, and a communication chair. She is also a member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), the Project Management Institute (PMI), the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA), and the Maryland Recreation and Parks Association (MRPA). She also participates in career days and gives professional development seminars to young people for various groups.
A native of New York City, she received her bachelor’s degree in public relations/business from Howard University and received her PMP certification. Calm Lewis has lived in Prince George’s County for 20 years. She is a wife and mother of one son and one daughter.
