Crystal L. Prater


Crystal L. Prater is a creative communications professional who has used her talents to uniquely position the brands of several household names. Her career in public relations spans a several sectors including sports and entertainment, media, government, nonprofit organizations, and Fortune 500 companies. Ms. Prater was an integral part of the team at the M-NCPPC that launched the historic community engagement program Envision Prince George’s. That experience reawakened her interest in the nexus of public affairs, personal empowerment, and policy to impact lives and communities.

Her passion is using her public relations skills and life story to influence and empower others. As a member of the First Baptist Church of Glenarden, MD, she is the marketing and public relations officer for B.O.D.Y. by Christ Ministry. She was awarded “Member of the Year” in December 2012.

Ms. Prater is a lifelong resident of Prince George’s County and proud honors graduate of the public school system. She was selected to the inaugural class of the University of Maryland at College Park Scholars Program in Public Leadership and graduated cum laude from Bowie State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in communications/public relations.

Currently she works in the Public Affairs Office of the Prince George’s County Planning Board.  Ms. Prater is also the proprietor and “word chef” of A Way With Words (AWWW), a multimedia services company. Her vision is to use AWWW to empower and inspire. She is writing her first book on the journey to and power of self-love
