Christian Rhodes serves as the education policy advisor for the Office of the County Executive. In this role, Mr. Rhodes serves as the county executive’s senior advisor on education related matters and the education liaison from the Office of the County Executive to the County Council, Prince George’s State Delegation, and Prince George’s County Board of Education. Additionally, Mr. Rhodes serves as the executive director of the County Executive’s Commission for Education Excellence, an advisory group charged with working with the school system to promote education innovation and garnering broader public support for education in Prince George’s County.
Prior to coming to the County Executive’s Office, Rhodes served as a government relations specialist for the Maryland State Education Association (MSEA) and the UniServe political director for the Prince George’s County Educators’ Association. Mr. Rhodes obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his master’s degree in public administration from American University in Washington, DC. While attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Mr. Rhodes was selected as a North Carolina Teaching Fellow, the state’s most distinguished teacher preparatory fellowship. He was also the founder of two community-based organizations that focus on mentoring minority high school students. Rhodes is a passionate advocate for educational equality and mentoring. He enjoys music, college basketball (Go Tar Heels!), and African American autobiographies.
