Tahira Love Brooks
Tahira Love Brooks is a spoken word artist and international software trainer. Since 1996, she has written & performed poetry in Metro D.C. Since 2000, Brooks has hosted poetry events for all ages, after finding a void of venues that welcomed youth. She has 2 poems featured on Shades of Vision: Undercover The Album and she co-wrote Freedom, a song written & performed for Isaac Hayes, to honor his charity work in Africa. Brooks attends the DC Regional Church, which has actively supported her growth as an artist/individual. In 2003, Brooks founded Creative Writing Alliance, to provide a platform for youth voices. CWA hosts the Prince George’s County Youth Slam, and, since 2005, has represented the county at Brave New Voices: The National Youth Slam, The Kennedy Center, The Clarice Smith Center, Atlas Theatre, Source Theatre, New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, San Jose, Chicago, area schools and many other venues.
