Adam Ortiz currently heads Prince George’s CountyStat, an accountability office ensuring performance and innovation for a county government of 6000 employees serving 900,000 residents. Before that he served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Lt. Governor Anthony Brown handling veterans’ affairs, workforce development, budget and other policy areas. From 2005-2011, he served three terms as Mayor of Edmonston, Maryland. His accomplishments include a 70% drop in crime, the end of devastating flooding through innovative flood management, and building the east coast’s greenest street. Edmonston Green Street has become a national model of sustainability that utilizes natural bio-retention to clean polluted storm water, high efficiency LED lighting powered by wind energy, native plants, trees and improved bike and pedestrian safety. The Green Street has received awards and recognition from the Obama Administration and others and is being replicated in jurisdictions throughout the region.
