Tiara Shenea Shelton

Tiara Shelton, a Dallas, Texas, native, resides in Laurel, Maryland, where she has enjoyed establishing her career serving the Greenbelt and Riverdale communities of Prince George's County. Tiara is a proud alumni of Howard University School of Social Work macro program.

Tiara is the founding Center Director for Higher Achievement’s newest Achievement Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. Tiara visualizes a world filled with youth who truly believe they can achieve anything, and she has dedicated her career to ensure they have tools to do so.

Before Higher Achievement, Tiara served as the Community Resource Advocate at Beacon Heights Elementary through Prince George's County Department of Social Services. In that role, Tiara was able to create promising partnerships, secure grants and sponsorships, and advocate for mental health services, efficient housing, healthier food, and employment for newly migrated families. Tiara has also served on the Woodlawn/West Lanham Transforming Neighborhood Initiative community team where she was able to develop and execute Neighborhood Safety Plans with an emphasis on education, health, and most importantly safety!

Outside of her career, Tiara finds joy in being surrounded by positive everyday women doing incredible things. In effort to highlight, nurture, and support the community of women around her through various initiatives, Tiara founded her organization Raise Your Worth. One of those initiatives is their book club, Brown-skin Bookworms. What Tiara intended to be a fun way to increase literacy and unity turned into a safe community of support, sisterhood, and authentic peer-to-peer mentorship.
