Sheila E. Isong


Sheila E. Isong is the National Political Director at the NAACP where she works to strengthen the organization’s legislative and community infrastructure with capacity programs to move a winning agenda at the national, state, and local level. Prior, she was the Director of Domestic Programs at the Victory Institute, where she worked to increase the number of LGBTQ people in public office. She’s also served as a Policy Manager at the Center for American Progress’ Generation Progress team where she led a portfolio of criminal justice reform, gun violence prevention, and voting rights. She’s gained a wealth of experience at the National Black Justice Coalition, AFL-CIO, and Center for Community Change. Sheila graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor’s degree in Politics and Philosophy, and she holds a JD from Howard University School of Law. She is a proud Nigerian-American and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She currently resides in Hyattsville, MD with her wife.
