Notably, EECG hosts the annual Adult Ed Heroes event acknowledging those who provide alternative routes of education to help others’ educational dreams become a reality, creates state-wide educator trainings, and develops local youth and adult education and career development programming. Currently, EECG is developing a leadership program for non-traditional educators and plans for it to become a certificate in Educational Leadership.
Originally from Wadmalaw, a Gullah Island of South Carolina, Daquanna was Valedictorian in 2000 for the Mighty Islanders and graduated cum laude from Howard University. Daquanna received her master’s in Social Psychology from American University and her Certificate in Non-Profit Management from Duke University. Daquanna completed the Education Policy Fellowship Program from the Institute for Educational Leadership and is currently in the University of Baltimore’s Maryland Equity and Inclusion Leadership Program.
As a proud Tech-Geek she is a judge for the SIIA CODiE Awards, reviewing technologies in education, workforce development, and college and career readiness. In July 2018, Daquanna became the Vice President of the Maryland Association for Adult, Community, and Continuing Education and has served numerous boards.
Daquanna has resided in Prince George’s County for 16 years and is an active attender at Adelphi Friends Meeting. Through a strong support system, she co-parents her inquisitive daughter who reminds her that accomplishments come in many forms!
