Dr. Chaz T. Gipson


Chaz T. Gipson is a 2019 Ph.D. recipient from Howard University’s School of Communications, with a special focus in P-20 education, race, and gender and media representation. His dissertation was recognized with distinction by the American Association of Blacks in Higher Education. He also holds a Master of Education in Educational Leadership, Administration & Policy Studies, has recently completed the 2019 AASA/Howard University National Urban Superintendent Leadership Academy, and was inducted into the National Higher Education Leadership Foundation.

Dr. Gipson works at the US Department of Education, overseeing TRIO, HBCU, and Childcare Campus Grant Awards across the nation. Dr. Gipson has held other professional appointments in the Division of Student Affairs and the School of Communications and Education at Howard University, and at Prince Georges Community College educating scholars in the primary core areas of Education, Communications, Sociology and Psychology Studies. Dr. Gipson has served as a residential Principal/Educator with the Charter School system in the DMV and focuses lots of his work on college and career readiness.

Dr. Gipson was selected as a White House HBCU All-Star Ambassador for Howard University and served as a speaker for the 2015 Michelle Obama’s “HBCU Beating the Odds Summit”. He was selected as one of Radio One WKYS 93.9’s Top 30 Under 30 best and brightest young African Americans in the area to represent the Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia areas for his community service, leadership and youth development. Dr. Gipson won the first place Ronald E. McNair Post Baccalaureate Award for Excellence in Research and Scholarship. Dr. Gipson is a published author and often presents his work at various professional conferences. Dr. Gipson is a very active member of Phi Delta Kappa Educational and Kappa Delta Pi Educational International Honors Societies, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and a very active member of Prince George’s County Reid Temple AME Church’s Young Adult Ministry, Choir, and Higher Education Ministry. Dr. Gipson believes in being a well-rounded Renaissance Man and has completed missions and service work internationally. Dr. Gipson puts God first and allows God to direct his path.
