Daniela Perez Bravo
Daniela Perez-Bravo is a parent engagement assistant at Beacon Heights Elementary School in Prince George’s County Public Schools’ Department of Family and Community Engagement. As the parent engagement assistant, she supports her assigned school by working closely with school system staff, parents and families, community groups, and business partners to support effective teaching and learning. Daniela immigrated to this country at the age of three from a humble village in Puebla, Mexico.
An interesting fact about Daniela’s journey: the first school she attended in the U.S. was Beacon Heights, the school that she proudly serves today. She received her education from elementary to high school in Prince George’s County. She will be graduating from the University of Phoenix in June with a bachelor’s in communication with a certificate in cultural studies and communication. In addition to the expectations in her job description, Mrs. Perez is recognized for the many hats that she wears. She is passionate about girl empowerment and has started an after school program called “Empowering Young Girls @ the Heights.” She hosts English classes at a local church and facilitates many workshops to advise parents on the educational system so they can become better advocates for their children’s education. She has presented at the Institute for Educational Leadership Conference in Chicago, the Prince George’s County Public School’s Family Institute, and the Maryland English Language Learning Family Involvement Network. Daniela is also a member of the Increase Family and Community Engagement Strategy Team.
